How do I track down my grandparents mineral rights. They're both deceased, and the country records of McCone, and Dawson county are not computerized. My family lived in both counties since 1890, and I know they kept the mineral rights when they sold their property.
Mr. Holben, I think you could call the County Clerk in each office. They can query on your grandparents names. Let us know how it turns out! Good Luck!

We had the same problem a couple of years ago. I remembered my mother had told me that she and her sisters and kept the oil and mineral rights on her father's farm when they sold it. We had to go to the County Recorder's office and look them up ourselves. We knew the approximate date of the sale, so that was helpful. It took several hours of scouring through the old record books, but we were finally able to find the information we needed to prove ownership and it was worth the effort. Good luck in your search.
You either need to hire a landman, attorney, or title company to do a title search.
Or go to the county, pull out the grantor/grantee index and start searching the relevant time period for deeds executed by your family members. Pull the deeds, and check them for mineral reservations.
