How do I get mineral rights on my property

I bought a house that shows the mineral rights going to the original owner, the house was built in 1921. I’d like to know how can find out if anyone is currently getting paid for the oil that is being pumped out. Our elderly neighbor gets a check from an oil company, I don’t know which one (she’s just recently moved, so I can’t ask). She inherited the rights from her mom. But on our deed, ours still names the original owner from 1921. The property is in Long Beach, California.

Hire a title company or land man to do a search. You should be able to get it done for 2-5 hundred dollars.

You might be able to find out from on line records for LA County, or on the Oxy website. My wife owns mineral rights for three different lots in Long Beach, in the area of Ocean and Pine.

Thank you for your suggestions. George, I called the oil company and found out the name of the current person receiving a check, and haven't been down to the hall of records yet to found out more. The property is near 4th and Alamitos, so it's probably the same company your wife receives her proceeds from.

Thanks,

Diana
