I have O&M rights to 3 counties : Liberty, Edward’s, Galveston. How do I get some drilling interest in these? They date back to early 1900’s. I tried giving my contact info to the county clercks’ offices, but they say to “drop in” like I happen to be next door. Any advice would be great!
It sounds like you inherited these and have not filed the needed records with the county clerks office? I would seriously think about contacting an Attorney in Texas listed above in “Mineral Services” of the directories at the top of this site to get this done. Any Oil and Gas attorney in Texas can help you, no matter their location in the state. I personally use Eric Camp out of Ft. Worth. Just my 0.02 cents worth of knowledge in this minefield of Oil and Gas. MK
Are you asking how to get companies to drill wells in those counties on your land? You could spend a few years studying geology and engineering and let them know your findings, other than that companies go where the oil and gas is
What Bob said is true. The drilling goes to where the best economics are. Most of that is in the Permian Basin right now. You can look up your areas on the Texas RRC map to see if there is activity nearby. Look up by county and then your block, abstract and section.

Use the county section first and them the blue magnifying glass to select the others. I showed an example below. Then the slider bar goes in closer to see wells.
You can file something as simple as an Affidavit of Address listing you name and address along with each property. This will not convey any interests you may own, but it will let companies know how to get in touch with you. You do not need an oil and gas attorney to prepare this document. Any competent attorney can prepare the document and provide an Exhibit “A” listing all of the properties. You will then have to file the Affidavit with the County Clerk in each county.
