My grandmother died in 1992. The Oklahoma State Treasurer has notifies me that she has unclaimed money for mineral right royalties. Aside from establishing that I am her heir, I also have to provide “proof of ownership” that she owned the rights. How can I get this?
You’ll need the operator to provide an ownership report detailing your interest. Some operators are helpful, others not. If not, you may have to hire a landman to run title and prove ownership.

You can do research on your own online back to 1994. Logan County Records I recommend using the advance search feature. Proving your grandmother owned or was entitled to own is a first step. It is likely that a probate of your grandmother and your parents estates (if also deceased) will be needed to place title in the names of the heirs. This will insure flow of future revenues. The Oklahoma Treasurer sometimes accepts affidavits but generally prefers probate orders. Richard Winblad
