Fill in the screen as follows. This will give you an idea how the database works.
Form #: 1000 drilling permit form number.
Legal Location: 30 section no. or complete location, 3003E02S or leave blank.
API: 019 enter county code, Carter county example.
Effective/Approval Date: 1/1/2011 5/5/2012, need both dates.
This will produce a list of Drilling Permits for Carter County. There are two locations for horizontal wells and one location for vertical wells. On the left hand side of page 1, about 5 lines down will be LOCATION. This is the Surface Hole Location (SHL). The Bottom Hole Location BHL should be near the bottom of page two under Lateral Holes. The (BHL) is where the royalties a produced. They do drill across section boundaries on horizontal wells, so don’t limit your search to just your section, but include the sections around yours.
This example information is from a newer drilling permit which was electronically scanned verses the older handwritten permits. It is also for a horizontal well.
If you enter: 1000, 3003S03E, 019, 1/1/2010 5/5/2012 you will see the sample.
Hope this helps. Just keep changing the second date and you can track the permit activity.
