How to find how many mineral rights we have

My sisters and I are heirs to our grandmother’s mineral rights in Tyler county. We have received offers to lease 2 parcels from Antero. How do we find out if we have any other parcels in Tyler county? Thanks.

You will need to investigate the records of the Tyler County Clerk’s office or pay someone to do that for you.

One way you can search is to do a search on google for Tyler county, Wv idx. It will lead you to a website.

Then you can put in the name of your grandmother or the person or persons where the minerals originally came from. To have a broad search, unless your grandmother’s name is really common, like Smith or Jones, then use just the last name. For example, one could put in the last name of Hatfield, and then it could be narrowed down to Hatfield, William. The index will show deeds, leases, mortgages, etc. or anything that Mr. Hatfield executed. Now, the property could have been lost through the years to tax sales or by a special Commissioner’s lease or sale.
