For my Mineral Deeds in Texas, is anyone aware of sources/data bases where I could find the name and contact info of the purchaser of any production (both current and within the last approx. 10 years) from wells on my lease without having to go through the Operator of the lease?
Could I simply enter the name of my Lease and Section & Block number to find this info?
Or would I need to enter the well number (would that be the API number?) of each well I see on the Texas Railroad Commissions website that are located on my Lease?
The amount of info on the Texas RRC’s website can be overwhelming and I haven’t been able find a simple tool like this. I’m a small Mineral Owner and prefer not to have to use any type of subscription service that would charge for this info. If this type of info is located on the RRC’s website can anyone tell me how to navigate to it?
Any thoughts suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
If I’m understanding your question, I suggest trying the Texas Comptroller’s website, CONG. Your lease number, that’s probably shown on your monthly royalty statement, should be all you’ll need to pull up the monthly purchaser information for your wells. Here’s a link to their site https://mycpa.cpa.state.tx.us/cong/loginForward.do?phase=check
When you go to the site it may say your session has expired and you’ll need to click the spot that says LogIn. You don’t have to set up an account. On the page that opens there will be a list on the left side of the page where you will see “Lease Drop-Crude Oil” and Lease Drop-Natural Gas". Pick one, put in your six digit lease number and the period of time you want to see (written like 2401 to start with January, 2024 production month). Wells classified as crude producers may have sales entries posted on both the Crude and the Gas drop site, but gas wells should only appear under the Natural Gas site.
I’ve always searched CONG by lease number or permit number, if I’m looking for sales before the completion report is filed and RRC has assigned a lease number. But you can also search CONG by API number.
Thanks for this additional info, Dusty1. I’m continuing to try and work my way through this. The amount of information, and the steps needed to find it, can be overwhelming and so time consuming. I appreciate your replies to my question.
Hello Dusty … at the risk of sounding cliche, I enjoy learning. Also, I want to be a good steward of my minerals, which I think includes educating myself so I’ll know if I’m being treated fairly by those I might deal with.
Joining NARO-National Association of Royalty Owners- is an excellent way to learn about being a good steward of your mineral rights. They have an introductory membership for your first year. The Texas Chapter holds a convention every year which features excellent speakers and wonderful networking opportunities. The US National convention is also in Texas in Houston October 16-19.
Here is link on RRC website that might help. On RRC Online Queries, select Wellbore Query. You can search by API # or by District and RRC Lease #. Enter well API # and then at bottom select “Both” instead of automatic Current. On next screen, select the Lease # (not the Links drop down menu). At top of next screen, select P4 tab. A list will open with the name of Gatherer / Purchaser and the associated product. An alternative for records, once you do the lease or API search, use the links drop down menu to select Images. For the Potential Records, use the Actions drop down tab to select View Documents. Then you can scroll through all the filings for the lease or well.
