One question often asked by oil & gas royalty owners is how do I verify production from the well or wells included in my unit or tract?
For Texas mineral owners, you must have the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) Identification Number for the well. Oil wells are assigned a five-digit number, and gas wells have a six-digit number. (This identification number must be posted at the entrance to the property where the well is located, and may differ from the identification number used on any payment stub or other documentation received by a royalty owner). If you do not have the RRC well identification information, you may require further assistance to identify the wells to access the information available through the commission’s on-line database system.
