How would I go about verifying ownership of old, non-producing, leases that appear to be held by my family and determining whether or not there has been any recent activity in these areas?
Michelle:
If you have the legal description of these areas, a good starting place would be the County Clerk's office in the county where the minerals are located. These records should name the owner on file. In regards to the activity in these areas, the agencies which regulate oil and gas in States, sometimes have maps on their websites that will reflect the wells and their status. If you are located a great distance from these locations, you might have to enlist the help of individual to assist you in the research of these records.
Great, I will start there. Thank you, Mr. Mallory.

Charles,
How could I find and enlist a reputable landman to determine an ownership interest in Logan County. The issue is to determine net acreage owned.
Thanks,
Rosemary

I am not familiar with any landmen in your area but I would click on "Groups" above and find your State and county then post on that site. Someone registered on that site should be able to help. you. Hope this helps.
