Me and my brothers just found out a year or so ago that we had land that was passed down from my dad (who passed away) to us. My great grandfather purchase land and it has been passed down. Now me and my brothers are being called by Big oil companies that want to dig on the land. What do me and my brothers do? And how do we find out if we have mineral rights? Do we sign the contract right away?? so many questions we have, Please HELP!!

Rebecca, First go to the top of this page and find groups, click on county groups and scroll down to find the county(ies) you have minerals in. I see you are in San Antonio so maybe your minerals are in the Eagle Ford.
This is the best way to get information on your particular area. Also check out some of the other discussions at the top such as Mineral Help. You can learn a lot by exploring these forums and asking questions of people experienced in your area. Good Luck

You and your brothers should consider contacting an experienced Oil and Gas Attorney. The Texas State Bar Association's website has a directory of attorneys from all over the state.
In addition to that, there are several experienced Landmen, including myself, that are members of The Forum. We have all been answering questions for Land and Mineral Owners for years and years and I am sure we will all be happy to help.
If an oil and gas company has contacted you about leasing your land, then you own at least some of your mineral rights. They send Landmen out to check the County Records about that sort of thing before they contact anybody.
Ask them to provide you with a copy of their Mineral Ownership Report (MOR). A report like that will list everybody who owns minerals in the subject land(s).
You can also ask them for a map of the property(ies) if you do not already have one.
No, you do not need to sign the lease right away. As a matter of fact, you shouldn't do anything right away. There are a number of issues you will need to learn about before making any kind of commitment. Don't let them rush you into anything. And don't worry, they won't be going away anytime soon.
How much acreage have you inherited and where is it? Do you have a legal description for it?

Thank you Charles, this information does help. In fact the land is located in Webb county between Cotulla off of 35 going towards Laredo Tx. We do not have a map of where it is exactly located. The representative of Segundo Navarro Drilling, LTD is trying to get me and my brothers to sign the lease. She said we have mineral rights to the land. It's 58.87 acres of land and my dad owns 1.2 acres of it. I'm trying to get the legal description on it.
