I looked up the well I have an interest in (Black Mesa) on the OCC web site. I typed in “Black Mesa” and got information on another well drilled since the Black Mesa I have an interest in has been producing. The location is listed as 7-5N-8E and it looks to me like it was a dry hole. It also looks like it was a vertical well and the Black Mesa was a horizontal. This well was drilled approximately 7-8 months after Black Mesa was completed. They don’t give subsequent wells the same name, do they? I am sure there is plenty here I am not understanding and would like to see if anyone can help me understand this.
Yes, there can be wells with the same/similar name. Your well is called Black Mesa 0505 3-10-1WH. It is in sections 3 & 10 of 5N-5W (Hints are in the well name). Yours has a surface location in section 4. The other one is Black Mesa 7-1
Gross Production Tax site with recent production (a few months delay)
Test Type in Black Mesa and both wells show up.
