My mother passed and left my sister and myself 1/3 interest in 3 oil wells in Atascosa County. That was all that she had of any value so I didn't probate her will. What do I need to do to get the wells in our names. I get the property taxes on the land and mineral rights already, so what do i do now. I get all kinds of advice. Hire an attorney, probate her will, spend money, spend money. These little wells only bring in maybe 1,000 a year, and the taxes are over 300.00. Any advice?

Find statements from the payee to your mother, find your mother's owner number, write or call the operator and ask what they need to transfer her royalty over to the heirs---they will probably want a certified copy of her death certificate, a copy of her will...they will let you know. There is no reason to hire an attorney or spend money on this.
