Initial Production Question regarding pipelines

On a new flowing well can production be held pending completion of a pipeline? Thanks for your time.

It depends upon which product. Oil can be held in tanks for pickup by tanker truck. Gas can only go through a pipeline. In many cases, a gathering line has to be built to connect to a larger line.

Are you referring to the Great Plains newer wells? They may need a new gas line. The original well has a different surface location.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I was referring to the Great Plains newer wells. They were fracked in late April, I assumed the recovery of product would have to begin shortly thereafter.
Would they flare gas until the pipeline is complete?

Highly unlikely that they are flaring gas.

The wells are not online yet according to the OTC website.

They will not flare the gas. The pipelines should have already been laid to the wells, as a short distance was required. Likely first gas sales will be when all the wells are completed (both Great Plains and Black Mesa wells). Most operators don’t like to leave stimulated wells shut in as you can lose the flowback strength of the frac stimulation to help move the frac fluid.

Doesn’t look like a Completion Report has been filed.

Camino is going back to court on Tuesday, 4th of June. Still something related to increased density for the new Black Mesa wells. Don Bray posted some photos a month or so ago showing them working on a pipeline for Black Mesa.

I am still confused about this increased density order that Camino just got approval for. (Signed 5/29/2024.) The approval is for another well for the original Black Mesa or is this like an extension to one of the original Black Mesa wells? As you said, Martha, the well count for the new Black Mesa wells has not increased and is still four. Thank you.

Please add the case number so the question is easier to answer.

Black Mesa 0505 3-10-1WH was drilled in 2020. Listed on the OTC site.

Black Mesa 0505 3-10-2MXH spud 1/16/24 Sycamore & Mississippian. Case 2024-001000 parag 6.5 says that the well has been drilled and completed. Para 7.3 says that the well was supposed to hit the Sycamore in sec 10 and the Miss in sec 3. It accidentally hit the Miss in sec 10… They plan to complete it in the Miss and Sycamore in sec 10 and the Miss and and Woodford in Sec 3.

Black Mesa 0505 3-10-3WXH spud 1/18/24 Woodford

Black Mesa 0505 3-10-4MXH spud 1/21/24 Sycamore & Mississippian. Case 2024-001000 parag 7.2 says that the well has been drilled and is being completed in the Miss above the Sycamore.

Black Mesa 0505 3-10-5WXH spud 1/7/24 Woodford

Don’t be concerned. They are just completing an additional zone and had to file to get permission to do so.

Martha, this creates some interesting situation with holders of the Overriding Royalty Interest (ORRI), while the Royal Interest Mineral holders (RI) are likely not effected. In most areas the Sycamore and Miss and one in the same, in this area there happens to be some separated “units”, going back to the vertical spacing (one needs to look closely at the past spacing). If indeed the 2MXH well completed in the Sycamore and Woodford, allocation will be necessary for ORRI holders and working interest owners. FYI, the Great Plains wells and the Black Mesa 2 and 3 were to go to gas sales on 5/29, and the Black Mesa 4 and 5 are to go to gas sales on 6/4.

Thanks for the info, would you have the dates for oil sales from these wells?

These long laterals and stages take a bunch of water to Frac. I’m watching a new well that went online apr 9 and they might have sold one transport 110bbl of oil. A lot of these newer wells are the new dominion method of massive water recovery skim out oil break out gas and reinject water it’s capital intensive and depends on water cut. Lime rock just finished a three well Frac mcclain county Okla huge massive frac

Very interesting, thanks for the reply.

They apparently shut down the original Black Mesa well as the last revenue check was minimal. I called Camino and the person I spoke to did not know the reason but thought they might be reworking the well. Are the new Black Mesa wells connected to the original Black Mesa wells in that they would shut the original well down when the latest wells started producing? Thanks

I believe Camino was fracking the new wells during April/May. I believe they shut down wells in the vicinity to avoid potential damage.

Grace: That is standard procedure. The original well will be shut in for several months until the new wells get to a certain pressure. Then they will open it back up and it will never produce what it was before the new wells were drilled.
