Is there insurance for Mineral and Royalty interests? We have had Working interests in the past but no longer do and are now trying to find the correct insurance coverage for minerals and royalties. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations of a carrier that understands mineral ownership? Or are most people insuring with their property insurance?
In Texas, mineral owners do not insure their owned minerals because there are not associated liabilities, at least as far as I have heard. If you own surface, then there is a different situation. Working interests do need to be insured, but usually that is done through the operator.
