Interpreting OTC data

Marathon Oil was granted approval for two wells in Grady Co. 03N 05W (Jackalope 0305-1-22-27-34 and Jackalope 0305-2-22-27-34). Form 1002A Completion reports show that both wells were completed in April and May of this year, but neither of those 1002A forms provides a date of first production, or any data on volume of oil/gas initially produced. (I’ve assumed that publicizing that information was the whole point of Form 1002A.)

Okla Tax Commission, however, shows that at least one Jackalope 0305 well did become active in Sept. ’24. Two entries, with two separate PUN numbers, show gas production in August ’24. Could experienced hands say whether both entries really apply just to well #1—which is how they are titled—or whether there’s been a reporting error somewhere, and the two entries actually pertain to wells #1 and #2? It’s confusing…

The OCC runs about four to five months behind on completion reports. I used the OTC to get the “active” date which is usually fairly close to first production. That is when the operator first starts to report to the state for tax purposes. The 1002A does not always show first production.

PUN 051-231755-0-000 is for Jackalope #1 API 35-051-25099 with first production for gas as of 31-Aug. Roll down the PUN detail page to the bottom where the API is listed.

Looks like they have a typo for PUN 051-231306-0-000 which is for API 35-051-25100 which is really for Jackalope #2. It has Production as of 31-Aug.

My double check is to look on fracfocus.org for the frack job.

Agreed about the typo, Martha; thanks for looking this over. Thanks too for the tip on “fracfocus.”
