Is it a good thing that a company wants to buy my mineral rights

Got a letter today from Red Stone Resources asking to buy all or part of my mineral rights. No dollar amount offered just asking for me to contact them . Not interested in selling. Just wondering if anything happening in the area. I have mineral rights in S: 30 /T: 8N /R: 4W McClain County

Newfield is drilling some long Woodford wells in the section next to you. Hang in there and maybe you will get some good leases.

Is that in McClain Co.or Grady Co.? I believe my section is on border of both counties ?

If you are getting offers to purchase it probably means they know something is breaking loose (drilling) around there. If you haven't been following this forum for very long you may not know of this hot boom we have going on in this part of Oklahoma. That is if you live out of state. If you live around here you could not help from know there is something big going on in the area with all the heavy traffic you have to fight every morning and evening (really all day and half the night). I wouldn't sell if I were you unless you really need the money. If you didn't hear the Continental conference they took part in a couple of days ago you should get on the Continental Resources' website and go below the picture on the right side and click on the replay of the webcast and listen to it. Skip over the first couple of hours or three till they get on the part about the SCOOP and Springer plays (that's us and probably you) and enjoy the excitement! Many on here have been getting many offers to purchase and the closer they get to drilling on you the more you will receive. Yep, it's a good thing to be getting the offers and you will probably be getting many more as time goes on. Hang on for a fun ride! :)

Thanks for info. I don’t live in Oklahoma. I have been on this forum for a short time and know things are happening in my general area but unclear as to how close to the area I ( and my Family ) own mineral rights. Just started getting letters from companies wanting to buy all or a portion of these rights…got another one today. I have no reason or want to sell so I 'm looking forward to the fun “ride” !

Yes, Rick, you are just on the McClain side of the border.

Hi Rick,

My wife and I own a tract in Saskatchewan with a 30 year old modestly producing well. Two years ago we got a letter out of nowhere offering a large sum of money for the mineral rights. I made a few phone calls to Canada. Turns out they were planning a new horizontal well. It took just one year to match the money we were offered for the rights. Let me simply repeat what others have already said, hang in there.
