My family received a check, for the 1st time, from an oil company for royalties left by our grand parents; according to the RRC the original lease was signed in the sixties. We were able to obtain the lease number from the tax records that the oil company was paying, but cannot find a copy in the county records. The oil company is not helpful in giving us a copy, we have requested a division order no respond yet. Can you advised on how to locate hard to find leases, we are in the state of Texas Montgomery county.
Did your family inherit minerals or royalty? If your grandparents owned minerals and signed a lease, the lease would be in the County Clerks office. If they only owned royalties, they would not have signed a lease.
Most companies will not pay anyone without a signed Division Order.
An unemployed Landman would probably be your best investment on this. I am sure there are plenty around Conroe.
thanks we will explore your advise and keep you posted.
Wish you the best on this because I know that these issues can make one pull hair
