Leasing in grapeland

has anyone heard of any leasing of meneral rights in grapeland . i have 66 acres in the stephen bennett servay a-151 and have not heard of any action going on.

My land is 6 miles west of Grapeland fronting on FM 227. I did a lease check of the county records and found two lease brokers have leased close to me, with the last lease being in October 2012. I was told that one of the companies stopped paying drafts.

It appears that new leasing activity near my land stopped around the end of 2012. I think my area of the county is on the outer boundary of the Eaglebine and beginning of the Woodbine. The Eaglebine and Woodbine wells in Madison County seemed to have sparked interest comming from the south and west.

Right now it appears that all the players have all the acreage they have the resources to develop. That, combined with uncertainty of what is going to transpire with regard to our national energy policy seem,s to have caused a pullback. All it could take to get things going is a good discovery. It is comming, how soon is the question.

Thanks for the info ,please keep me informed on any new details you hear of

In June 2013 I called EOG and Devon and both energy companies said they have moved to leasing in south Texas and west Texas.

I had an offer last year, but a Lufkin attorney sat on the offer and did nothing and I lost it. My advice is negotiate your own leases and forget the attorneys.

Hope this helps. Morgan Kay Sherman Houston County
