Leasing Offers

Is acreage currently being leased in Terry County, TX? I saw a post regarding a Prestige Leasing Company that was supposedly leasing. I have acreage in Terry County, but have received not contacts regarding leasing.

It is not being lease at this time. We did have a lease with Double Eagle in 2011 that has expired but there were 2 wells established.

We have mineral rights in Terry County, TX … it’s been since 2011 since we were leased. Does anyone know if there’s any activity going on there and how would you know? Any advice is appreciated! Amy

The best free source for information on drilling activity is the Texas Railroad Commission. Here’s a link where you can check the drilling permit applications filed in Terry County https://webapps2.rrc.texas.gov/EWA/drillingPermitsQueryAction.do

So far this year only two new permits have been approved in Terry. Boaz Energy and Griffin Petroleum got permits approved to drill 8000’ ro 8300’ vertical wells in the same general area at the northwest side of the county and both targeting the Lower Lower Clearfork Formation.

For leasing activity I’d usually suggest going to CourtHouseDirect who has a free Lease Alert service, but it looks like Terry County isn’t included on the counties they cover at this point. The other alternative would be checking for leases filed in the Terry County Deed Records. The records show Boaz Energy and Griffin Petroleum have recorded a number of leases and lease assignments during in the past two years.
