Limitations of the Weekly Activity Letter

I've been following the MBOG Weekly Activity Letters as well as the On-Line Data site for some time to monitor progress of 25N-57E-17 which has developed into Whiting's VITT 31-17-1H.

I don't know if it's all companies all the time but there seems to be considerable time delay between well completion and reporting same in the MBOG Weekly Activity Letter.

VITT 31-17-1H which Spudded 10/7/12 has apparently completed because the MBOG On-Line Data started showing production results on 11/30/12. So how long until it's reported in the Weekly Activity Letter?

I looked at a nearby situation also with Whiting:

HACKLEY 21-30H Spudded 3/15/12 and Completed 5/21/12 but MBOG Weekly Activity Letter didn't report completion it until 2/7/13. That's a 9.5 months delay.

It's only one data point but it appears that once the well is spudded it may be better to follow the On-Line Data using the Data Miner.

Also, months earlier, the Temporary Spacing Order approval for 25N-57E-17 was in the Hearing Information Minutes but failed to make the Weekly Activity Letter at all.

The next question is "What is the time delay between production and royalties?"

It is frustrating. Our well was drilled in August and we are still waiting for Division papers although they say it should be this week. We are with Whiting as well at 25N-57E- 30, 31 Simmers 4. It is still another month after Division Orders are signed and sent back before you will receive any Royalties. It's frustrating but we are not complaining. Not everyone is waiting on a Royalty check and it's a blessing to us. Good luck to you.

Thanks, It helps to know what comes (or not) next.

When I talked to Whiting on another matter, I asked why there is such a delay in reporting production. I was told by Whiting that the state is still hand entering alot of the information. Sounds rather archacic and old fashioned if you ask me. Dan, email Whiting for information on a particular well. I have found they are very friendly and respond to your request.

Dan- Hopefully we will be just a month out for division orders on the Vitt. I received DO's on a well that was started just one month prior to the Vitt. I see that production doubled in January over the December's stats. Not a barn burner but its oil just the same.

Joanne,

I've been following Norby, Simmers and others to get an idea of the time delays. I see that Vitt follows by a month. While the production doubled the daily rate appeared to decrease. Production is weak compared to surrounding so far but perhaps there will be multiple horizontals.

They must have liked the numbers enough to go in front of the board to ask for additional laterals. That is good news.

The division order analyst for this Whiting well told me yesterday that the first royalty payments will be sent out next week.

Thank you Richard

I haven't signed DO's yet. They were incorrect. I really would like to have right from the get go.

Whiting made an error on our DO as well, and did the same on my sister’s. We got it squared away after a few phone calls and emails.
