Long Creek CLR

Hello There!

I have some rights in the Long Creek CLR, Williams County, ND. I am somewhat new to all of this. But my most recent check compared to this time last year is almost 4 times less. I was just curious if anybody else that’s part of the Long Creek Unit can relate?

I hope I don’t sound stupid. I was just kind of thrown into this whole thing without being explained very much.

Thank you!

What section township and range? Easier to look up that way.

The general answer is that you have both natural decline and price of products possibly working against you. Horizontals come on strong but decline rapidly in the first few years, then stabilize somewhat at lower volume rates.

No question is stupid. Many of us inherited and drink through a fire hose for a while. If you want good information, the Mineral Help tab above is a good starting resource. There is also an organization called NARO-National Association of Royalty Owners. They have a Rocky Mountain chapter which has excellent information, webinars, conventions, etc. You should also check out the ND Natural Resources website. You can toodle around in it for free. A year subscription gets you more in depth information. Let me know if you need the link.

Thomas, yes very normal. I have my part in 153-99 section 15 and Tract 2. The 60 wells in the Unit has declined as expected from max a year ago, when they peaked at 850,000 barrels of oil + gas. March production was 240,000 barrels.

I will find that information for you when I get back home tonight! Unfortunately I can’t remember off the top of my head.

I really appreciate all of the information and assistance! There is so much to learn about this stuff and that’s hard to do when you don’t know where to start!

Thanks again!

Ahh, Lars!

I saw a post of yours talking about the Long Creek Unit. I think it was back in October. I added you on FB and sent a message to you regarding this same stuff earlier today. But you can disregard that now haha.

So is there any chance of it going back up at all? Or will it continue to slowly decline? I know you obviously probably can’t say for certain… I was just curious if you had any idea in general!

Thank you so much!

I can check your sections to see if there is something unusual going on or just regular decline.

Okay, awesome! Thank you!

Is there any chance for oil production to increase in the future or will it just gradually decline over time?

Not much change for increase in production unless they drill more wells, refrac or open up the choke more. Just normal decline.

Thomas, the Unit has 11-13 wells on a “normal 1280 spacing unit”. That is high numbers. You can expect to se a further decline in the next year to around 120,000 barrels and then it will slowly decline from that point. In the future they could try to refrac or put a few new wells to stimulate the old wells. Until February the gross income on a 1/5 royalty in the Unit per acre was 36,014 USD. Several companies tried to buy my minerals. The highest offer in my mailbox was 20,000 per acre.
