We receive monthly royalty payments around the 25th and noticed this month’s payment did not include any oil sales for the month of November. Normally, royalty payments include sales from the previous month but natural gas and natural gas liquids can lag several months.
According to Marathon Customer Service, several companies are now behind in oil sales payments but “they are looking into it” for me.
It can take a few days to a few weeks to get an answer. It is possible that a well was fracked nearby and the current wells were shut in for protection. It is also possible that other working interest owners have their own sales contracts and the operator is waiting to be paid from them. I noticed a few late payments this past month. Holidays might have impacted staff levels.
