Are mineral rights important if there really no minerals under your property?
Technically, there are minerals under every surface location if you go by a geologic definition. What has value is another issue. The fluids in the rocks such as oil and gas maybe valuable. Coal may be valuable. Precious minerals such as gold, silver or copper may be valuable. Gravel may be valuable, etc.
What is valuable varies by location and by timing. Who knew that shale could actually give up its oil and gas? Get to know your area and what the possibilities are.
