What is the minimum acreage required to perform your own drilling (gas/oil) in Texas?
It differs depending on where you are located within Texas.
That sounds like a very expensive proposition. Even if you could muster up the money, how would you transport the product? Are you going to put in a pipeline system, and if so to where and to whom would you sell the product?
Think this through carefully before you sign any papers or commit any funds.
Statewide spacing is 40 acres, generally in the form of a square. Special spacing rules could apply. For example on salt domes along the coast, there is 0 spacing on lease lines and sometimes less than 10 acre proration units.
To get the right answers and to stay out of hot water, most drillers either have their own regulatory people or hire a regulatory consultant.
