Yaaaay for Mr. Purvis! (although I don’t really know him). He’s had some acreage in the SW part of the county, has been acquiring some leases the past year or two. Hope he is successful on his wells. Free enterprise is a great thing!
RRC Website: Another Purvis Red Angus (Bill says Mr. Purvis has his sections named after breeds of cattle) 3,800 ft. vertical well
AND
Devon filed a permit for a horizontal 7,700 ft well, the Mayse 1H, 17.1 mi SE of Westbrook, Sec 55 Block 12. Curious about the wording “SE of Westbrook”, since that would make it closer to Colorado City.

Application for Salt Water Disposal Well on Hughes Lease 19 miles SW of C City.
Mr. Purvis filed permits for 2 vertical wells on his Shorthorn (doesn’t he have the BEST lease names?) Lease. One will be 5,800 ft, the other 3,800 ft. Both on Sec 25 Blk 19, 10 mi SW of Westbrook.
AND the Devonites are building their location on the Mayse Ranch.
Two new permits today by LARADO ONE IN SEC 30 BLK 24 AND THE OTHER SEC 30 BLK 24 GOOD LUCK TO OWNERS. NOTE: IF YOU CALCULATE WHAT DEVON SOLD TO THE JAPAN COMPANY IT IS CLOSE TO VALUE $7200 AN ACRE.
These are their “science wells”. Both are permitted vertically; they do all their cores, SWC’s, vertical logs, then decide if & where to drill horizontally. One is in Section 30, T&PRR Survey, Abstract 665, the other in Section 31, T&PRR, Abstract 361. See map: http://s702.photobucket.com/albums/ww21/lthomas132/?action=view&…;
Have minerals in Block 25 and have no clue where this block is located in the county or in relation to the general leasing activity that is happening. To those of you that are tracking the activity, is there a source to find a Mitchell co, survey map? I have been told that most activity is in the southern portion of the county and higher bonuses are being offerred in the southern sector ?? Thanks in advance to those that respond, Wes Herndon in Dallas.
