Mitchell County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Michael, The property where you have minerals is in the NE quadrant of the county, the area I mentioned is 15 to 20 sections SSE of yours.

Hey Les THANKS for finding that information

Thanks Les…I’ll take a look

That helped a lot with some of the bigger caliche roads on there if you zoom in. Nice…

Toni - I am not familiar to the county and the locations you stated but have rights on some acreage located East half of Section 19 Block 25. Was that anywhere close to the locations you noted?

Toni - is there a place where I can get a county map with the sections and blocks identified? Thanks in advance

Click on: http://www.rrc.state.tx.us/data/online/gis/index.php# Use the drop down to choose your county, then zoom in. You may have to use the 3X zoom several times to see the sections, blocks, etc.

Midland Map Company has ownership maps for individual counties which are updated every two months. They show old wells, when they were drilled. Current wells. They show what companies have current leases. The maps are about 4 x 4 feet, so they are wall maps. Recently inquired about getting a new one. They are up to $350 now. So I still use my old one… But it is a GREAT map and good investment, thinking I would wait and replace mine when most of the leasing is done and updated on the map.

I don’t know about smaller maps that just identify sections and blocks. That would be helpful. Anybody else have a source?

I use drilling info.com but I have to pay a yearly fee.

Question to Les: I am assuming that RRC data GIS is up to date on wells, gas lines and permit locations?, I am not familiar with all of this and trying to learn, and the permit locations are where they are planning on getting permits? and the green dots are established wells?..thank you for your help on this

Rebecca, there may have been abandoned locations (never drilled) in the past. The RRC posts permitted locations, regardless of their status. The RRC map is up to date with permitted locations only, if there is no permit yet it will not show

Not sure about the “green dots”
