Mitsui (Japanese Company) Acquires Position In Lower Bossier/Haynesville Play

Mitsui E&P USA (subsidiary of Mitsui Group) has acquired the leasehold established by Sabana Royalty Partners in Leon and Freestone Counties. A 49-page acquisition document was filed on Leon County on July 1 referencing a Purchase and Sale Agreement dated April 17, 2024.

The approximately 80,000 acre leasehold (estimated from county lease memo filings) includes leases written by Sabana Royalty Partners, Vanna Production, Thorp Petroleum, and Horseshoe Energy.

I believe that Mitsui has a long term contract for liquefaction at the Freeport LNG facility. The ultimate destination is electrical generation at Japan power plants.
