We (siblings and I) have a lease that in Leon County, TX that was for 3 years plus extension for 2 additional. At the time, we were not aware of that would should have just ask for 3 year with no extension. The lease expires in Oct of 2025 and we have received request to buy mineral rights but no intention to sell. As of Jan 1 up through Mar 1 there has been an increase in request to purchase (5 request so far). The sections involved are A-209, A-1301 and A-221. Looking at the TRRC gis viewer I can see that there plugged gas wells, one that is not plugged. Is there anywhere I can look to see if Vanna has any intention to drill. Over the year our Dad had lease that came and went about evey 5 years and never any drilling that I am aware of. Thanks for helping out
Vanna/Sabana Royalty Partners sold their 46,500 net acre position in Leon and Freestone Counties to Mitsui Exploration. It is a highly likely that your lease was included in that sale.
Mitsui is currently a drilling vertical test well east of Buffalo in the A Irwin A-421 Survey, which is about seven miles north of your acreage.
I’m sure the increased interest in your acreage is related to the Mitsui well.
You can find more info in the Leon County section of the Mineral Rights Forum.
Thank you for that information. Is there some place to look if the survery’s we are on were part of the transaction with Mitsui?
The only way to do that would be to comb through the assignment documents that were filed in Leon County to find your lease. Mitsui filed assignment documents on 7/1/2024, 11/12/2024, and 1/14/2025. You can search for those on the Leon County Deed Records page:

However, there is no reason to believe that Vanna did not sell their entire position to Mitsui. Also, it appears likely that Vanna is now leasing for Mitsui in Freestone and Anderson Counties.
Thank you, Sir. Was able to wade through the data and found the assignment, confirming, as you stated, that Vanna had sold our lease to Mitsui. Now I understand why so much interest.
Do you think that Mitsui was in on drilling the Yancy Well in Houston County?
No, I don’t think Mitsui is involved with the Yancey well. However, anything is possible.
