My 5 siblings and I inherited mineral rights in Dodgeridge county WV, we did not inherit the surface rights. Antero contacted us to lease them, we signed a lease in Jan 2013. We never received any royalties. Three years ago they said we should start receiving royalties soon. Then they stopped responding to us until a couple of months ago when they said there was conflicting interest in the rights. I have just found out the land was sold in a tax sell. Can the mineral rights have been sold without notifying us. The leases are on file with the county and our addresses, phone numbers and email addresses are all on the leases. We do not live in WV.

Was a lien placed on the property and that was sold? or were the minerals actually sold. Because this happened to me before. The county did not properly transfer ownership and so they had the wrong information in their computer. Therefore, I did not get the taxes owed sent to me. And since they were not producing, and a lot of places do not tax nonproducing minerals, I was not aware. They then sold the lien to someone else. I just simply had to pay the taxes owed. If someone else owns the lien for over three years though, I believe they can get full ownership of the minerals. You would have to check.
Cole, we have no knowledge of what transpired as we were not notified of anything. I would assume there was a tax lien. What is confusing is we didn’t own the land only the mineral rights, so when the land was sold for taxes I would think the mineral rights were not sold
my wife had mineral rights taken from from her. aunt and x mother in law took it to court on a deeded property they sold. but the mineral rights they kept. but the mineral rights were never properly deeded so the x wife got the mineral rights on a joint tennancy with right of survival even though she had never collected a dine off them or signed a lease.then gave rights to aunt for 10 dollars. this is clearly a hate crime and it happened on the border of doddridge and ritchie county. we never got the tax bill because someone else was paying the tax.very shady also antero was there to have x sign hew lease before she gave it to aunt for 10 dollars . good luck this is only place that helps the mineral rights forum
