My royalty check is three months late

The company that was doing my royalties sold to another company and stopped my direct deposit and sent a check to my old address. I have since changed my address with them over 30 days ago and was told they’d mail a check at the last week of May to my new address but i haven’t received anything and contacting them seems to be no help. I just want to know where my money is.

Should i report this to someone? Are they responsible for late fees?

Best I can tell today is May 9, a few weeks short of the last week of May.

Make sure that you send your new address and a W-9 to the new company by registered mail return receipt. Companies generally only send out checks on a specific date of the month, so “end of May” is not yet come and gone. Some of my late dated checks in a month do not show up until the early weeks of the next month.

Also, make sure that you have filed a change of address with the clerk of deeds/records in the county courthouse for every county where you own minerals.
