I was contacted the other day about some mineral rights we own in Payne Co regarding a 40 acre section. We were unaware of any mineral rights, but I do know my grandparents lived North of Stillwater for many years back in the 50's and owned several hundred acres of land. After talking with the Payne Co. Clerk we were made aware of even more mineral rights other than just this 40 acres in the section Devon Energy is wanting to drill. My question is why are they only interested in this 40 acres on this section if we own more on that same section? The clerk at the court house advised me to come down and they will look up all the documents concerning all the rights we might own. I have been doing alot of research trying to answer my own questions but haven't found alot of help yet. The section we were contacted about was Sec 9-20N-2E which from my understanding is where my grandparents farm use to be. Does anyone know what is going on in this section? is there any wells currently producing any oil near by? Any help would be greatly apprecicated.
Devon has applications in the works at this time. It appears they are going to drill a 640 acre into the Woodford

There have been a few wells drilled in that township (20N-2E) in the last 2-3 years on it and the near formations. Rains 8-20N-2E and Rains 5-20N-2E had 319, and 140 BOPD. Those "touch" your section 9.
On your acreage question. It is possible others may be a party to inherit part of the acreage, I doubt the clerk did much of a title search and the grandparents might have only owned a portion of the mineral rights, or even the landman could have made a mistake. It is a 640 acre spacing so they would want it all.

I know a little about the history of past wells in that section. I researched Bratcher 6 which was producing in the late 80's. My parents were receiving payments from it and probably your grand parents were also.
I'll set you up as a friend with my phone number if you want to give me a call.

Listed on the spacing order (Exhibit A) from Devon is the name Jessie Athalie Bratcher, Address Unknown. If this person is a relative then this may help you with a search of title or inheritance
of the mineral rights.
