I noticed on the RRC website, that a new drilling permit request by Continental Resources for the already completed, I thought, Jackrabbit 1308A 01H well, but it now includes an additional section at a different depth. Can someone explain this to me and how it affects current royalty owners of the original lease? What does it mean. Thanks for any info. New to this.
If you will provide the legal description, we can look up the permit.
Sec. 13, Blk A-56, PSL/ Norwood, F C. Abst # 1727, Winkler county, Tx. API# 495-34927
Jackrabbit 1308A
RRC shows the permit for the Jackrabbit 1308A that was approved 12/14/23 had an amendment approved on 2/16/24. A second amendment filed 12/4/24 is currently pending RRC approval. At the bottom of that 2nd amendment Continental added a note saying “Amending to change field per RRC completions recommendation. Also amending to change TVD requested by RRC completions.”
The originally approved permit was to TD of 10,500’ in the Ruppel (Woodford) Field. The last amendment changes TD to 10,800’ in the Flying Dove (Miss.) Field. The size of the unit and the location and length of the horizontal leg of the well didn’t change. It was drilled as an allocation well but those changes didn’t appear to have any impact on the royalty owners. It looks like RRC was just having Continental keep the records straight in that field.
