Family lease with Petrohawk is section 64 block 4. Think found it through help from site and GIS map near Pecos? What does jw day A-1390 mean? Recieved 3 offers to sell in last 6 months

Family lease with KEW section 68 block 4. Our lease will be up in the fall. We too have had several offers to sell. Not interested at this time.

Marian -- J.W. Day is the original grantee who purchased the land from the State of Texas, probably around 1900. A-1390 is called the Abstract Number... like a serial number that goes with that piece of land. If you have only the Abstract Number and County, you can find the property.

This section, H&GN Section 4, Block 64, is 7.4 miles northwest of Pecos.

I might add that Petrohawk is VERY actively drilling in your area! Later -- Buzz

(IMO, this question should have been posted on an existing Reeves Co. thread... but you didn't know.)

Jerry -- who is KEW. TIA -- Later -- Buzz

KEW is a company based in Dallas? Their landmen negotiate the leases and then, I think, sell the leases to PetroHawk or others..

Thanks so much Buzz! I do find it difficult to navigate the site. I thought I had posted only to Reeves County forum. Is it reasonable to ask our Petrohawk landman for an update of activity related to our lease? The lease is realted to 200 acres with six owners. It is my understanding in reading the forum that if not all six owners signed leases then no exploration could move forward?

Thanks Jerry. Were you aware of any activity during your lease happening? If yes, how did you find out?

Marian – I wouldn’t hesitate to ask the Petrohawk landman about their activity in your area including pipelines and other infrastructure by their affiliate, Hawk Field Services. Petrohawk soon will have 6 rigs running in Reeves, 5 of which are drilling 8-11 miles NW of Pecos, the other 6 miles W of Pecos. I believe you will find that exploration can indeed move forward even though 100% of the royalty owners have not signed. Later -- Buzz

KEW is KEW Drilling company. They currently hold my lease on AB-4061 NW of Pecos and have subleased the mineral rights to Petrohawk. No drilling yet......but hopeful. r / F Klein

Hey Buzz, By exploration do you mean actually putting a rig up?

Buzz, In researching the mineral rights, I found out from Glo that there was an active well on my property from 2002 till 2006. I was never offered a lease. Can they do that? Marietta Buzz Van Meter said:

Sorry I can't help... IMO, you need to talk to a lawyer at this stage. Later -- Buzz

Buzz.....It is legal to come on my land and drill if I own the surface rights? Why am I being offered a lease now from another Oil company? Why does one have to pay me and the other company doesn't have to? I do not understand. Marietta
