New Mineral Owner in Grady Co

I inherited mineral rights in Sec36. Two questions?

  1. Step by step on where to go if i want regular status of any activity? Here? Commission? Oil Company direct?

  2. Im getting mailers from what seems to me to be smaller organization who are asking me to sell. Advice?

First, there are several Section 36’s in Grady County. To get more accurate information please include the Township & Range.

2nd, know what you own. Are the minerals leased? Are they Held By Production (HBP)? Are there additional wells being planned? What about offset section activity? These are questions for you to answer to yourself. Being informed is the best way to maximize what you own.

Some folks here will say NEVER SELL. I say don’t sell unless you have a reason to sell. Buying and selling minerals isn’t any different than buying/selling any other tangible asset.

Finally, make sure your correct contact information is of record in the County Clerk’s office where you own the minerals so interested parties of all kinds & shapes can find you. Don’t EVER sign up to The Mineral Owners Registry. It is a scam.

Good Luck with your inheritance. Todd M. Baker

Question: I am not new on the Forum…just returning as Continental Resources is proposing a multiunit well in 5-5-6 Grady County and I am trying to find a cousin who should have an interest in the well. The owner remains her Grandfather, C J Denney…who is actually Clarence J Denney, my deceased Uncle. I am wondering why I an not find his $$ anywhere is “lost money”, “found money” or the OK mineral escrow accounts. It appears he had a small interest but what has happened to his escrow money…any ideas. I am trying to find my cousin to advise her.

Hi,

If there is a title issue then Continental may be holding any funds and she may be able to contact them directly. If the well hasn’t been drilled yet, then no funds would be reported. Hope this helps!

C J Denney is listed on the recent OCC cases for that section. There is another Denney from California. Is that your cousin? She should contact the attorney listed below and make sure she is getting the orders. They may need probate documents. There is no current production. The last well production ceased in 2000. The state would be holding it if he had acreage in the spacing of the well.

Thank you. I will call Karl Hirsch. I am the other Denney on the OCC cases and I have 3 other relatives owning minerals in this same section, D Kelley, M McStotts and Ruth Holder, however we are not in contact so I can’t ask them anything. I believe I tried CJ Denney on the OK found money site…so will call the lawyer
