Hi! I’m a journalist located in Johnson County, WY, and I’m trying to look at the impacts of the proposed permitting change at the WOGCC that is aiming to make the permitting process more competitive and get people drilling. I know that some mineral rights owners in Laramie County have struggled with companies holding permits to defend their space and not drilling, preventing them from reaping revenue from active operations on their land. Curious if anyone has had an experience with that up here and if they’d be willing to chat with me about it! Thanks! Mara
In our case, we lawyered up and put a limit on the lease to prevent them sitting on it without drilling for long periods. ATX did not choose to not drill to stifle the landowners, but more because the bottom dropped out of the market and they did no drilling on their approved permits.
