I just discovered this forum! I inherited an oil lease in Wood County a few years ago and am still a bit fuzzy on how it all works and why so many people want to buy my lease. My little piece of oil field was recently sold to Montare, a company that states they rehab old oil fields. That sounds a bit promising, but don’t know much about the oil industry. Hopefully, I will learn more here.

Welcome to the forum. For a primer, read the Mineral Help tab above. It will give you a useful starter outline. Many offers to buy come before drilling. Depending upon where you are in Wood County, the buyers may know something about pending horizontal wells. If you share your block, abstract and section, folks on the forum can give an idea of activity.
