No trust

Why is it that Antero can’t take no for an answer? They want my property to access another property to drill. I tell them no and they won’t quit. I was told my land is the best way in. I don’t want them there. Gas companies never keep their word and you gotta watch them 24/7 or they take and take and then your property looks like a war was fought there. How can I get them to leave me be?

Antero did the same thing with me. Went on for about six months. I think they thought I was negotiating when I told them I was not interested. I finally got a lawyer and a couple of the surrounding property owners did the same. Cost me around $1500 in legal fees but they finally dropped the idea of putting a well on my property and using my neighbor’s property for access. Well worth it for me though since I didn’t own the mineral rights and didn’t want to see the area destroyed.

Messina is right. They probably think you’re negotiating. One of the better negotiation tactics I’ve seen is to just tell them no and wait for them to come back with a better offer. Happens to them all the time.

If you want an attorney to call them and tell them to back off, I can do that. Send me a message if you need me.

I appreciate the advice, however I shouldn’t have to have someone else tell a greedy company to leave me and my land alone and let me enjoy my peaceful wildlife country, the exact reason why I am here. I’m no tree hugger but for a company to come in and bring a whole city filled with oversized rigs, strangers in the neighborhood, huge lights that light up 2 counties away and the constant noise. Let alone the 5 big bags of garbage that was picked up in as little as a week from these so called “you will make money but we aren’t keeping any promises on anything that we say we are gonna do”, run your wildlife off that is often enjoyed by many hunters and have your land tore up and they never stick to what they say they are gonna do. I’m not rich I live pay to pay. But I won’t have no gas/oil company telling me all their promises and leaving all the above mentioned behind for me to clean it up. A gas company got on my property once and left all their promises dumped all along my land, hillsides and roads. Once they are on your land they will always be on your land. And how can they resurvey a plot that was recently done and their reason being is that it looks suspicious?.. to benefit them? Mmm… who will they buy next…

Agreed. I try to dispense as much advice as I can for free on this forum, 'cause I know there are a lot of people out there that just can’t afford an attorney. The more people know, the better they can protect themselves. You know what they say about an ounce of prevention.
