Vital Energy has applied for new drilling permits in Reeves County, (Durlene A, B, C, G) , however the permits are under protest due to Vital’s permit application for a spacing exception under Rule 37. Why would someone protest this? I tried contacting the lawyer representing the person(s) making the protest but no answer. Is this something I should be concerned with as the new drilling permits are on the same property as other wells I am already getting paid royalty interest on.
You will need to wait until this is resolved. The exception is because some portion of wellbore will be closer to the lease line than allowed under RRC rules. Likely the protest has been filed by adjacent mineral owner who is concerned that his minerals will be drained without receiving royalties. His attorney will not talk to you about his paying client’s business.
