I received a filed pooling letter wihich has my name on it Question is - if a mineral lease contract with changes was sent to me and I sent it in - and I am kind of expecting a signing bonus check by next week because it took that amount of time with my sibling to get a check - did the contract get dropped? Will the office know if our contract is being filed or is it in limbo somewhere -haha Susan M
( it is a "Notice of Hearing"
Susan, usually if you are leased you do not get notified of pooling. It could be that the lease has not yet been filed in the county and they still have you as not leased. Most times you will get a better deal from being pooled than leased but it carries a slight amount of risk. If you can give me the location; section, township and range I can see what has been filed with the OCC. Many times the hearings get delayed and rescheduled so it could be a couple of months before the Pooling is completed. If you want to forget the pooling and stick with the lease call your Landman and see what's going on with the lease.
My sister and I are in the same position as you. We just talked to the landman from Jackfork who did our lease. He told us to ignore the pooling paperwork. We are leased and he is checking on why we haven't gotten our checks. Its been 3 weeks since we mailed in the signed leases. You might want to call your contact as well about "where's the check?"
Thank you Michael and Karen! I did send an email to our contact person - I thought I would wait until next week to call as that would be just past around time to expect it. ( Over 3 weeks) My brother and I recieved 2 additional offers to lease last week so it must not be too late for Jackfork to process the lease agreement. Just did not expect to get the pooling letter. But perhaps I should call tomorrow a.m. and verify - it's in the mail =)
Heard from landman today - still have a few more weeks to wait on the check for bonus - but we are leased.
Thanks!
