I automatically have an O&G attorney review any new leases (or PSAs if I was selling) but what about new pooled unit designations? Do folks typically get those reviewed by an attorney before signing?
You need to read the DPU and see if and how it may amend your lease. For example, does your lease specify that it expires after 60 or 90 days after cessation of production without operations and does the DPU extend this time to 120 or 180 days? Or does the unit cover only one formation or all depths? You can limit your ratification as to acreage, depths, etc. Good idea to have your oil and gas attorney review the DPU before you sign a binding legal document.
