I am finding it very frustrating to search well information on this database. The problem is my royalty check remittances do not have all of the information that seems to be required. I may have the legal description, the well name and the operator but without an API number, nothing comes up. Other times I have the well name and API but no legal description except the county. What am I doing wrong or does this database required every field to be filled out, which I can’t do since the information is not on the check.
It’s terrible. The best databases are Pangea oil and gas database or drillinginfo.
Operators are not so helpful in giving all the info needed. If you have the API, then you have pretty much the golden key. On the OCC data base, you can just fill it in and it will give you everything else. Don’t use the 35 in front, just the county code (next three numbers) and the last five numbers. If you have the well name, that might get you close. Don’t fill in everything. Just fill in the parts you have. less is better.

I have been using the texas RRC for texas production info… is there other websites to look at for production and permit activity, etc? I see that most want a monthly subscription (for crazy amount of $$ too!)
