I own a fractionated interest in a parcel of land located on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Reservation. For the past 50 years the State of Michigan has approve gas and oil leases adjacent to the reservation. Am I allowed to file an off reservation mineral claim against the State for extraction of oil?
You would need to contact the agent for that area for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Also read the state of Michigan oil and gas statutes.
I am curious as to why you would file off reservation if your lands are on reservation. You cannot claim royalties for minerals you do not own.
Here is the link to the Michigan website for oil and gas. https://www.deq.state.mi.us/dataminer/
