Our family is in the process of deciding to purchase our parents mineral rights so they can spend down their assets and apply for Medicaid should they require a nursing home soon. Sent out six or seven letters to businesses who in the past have offered to purchase the rights. Only one responded, an individual with ties to farm land in the area, and a “friend” of the attorney that may close the deal. The offered price is 25,000. We may be willing to pay 20,000 or whatever price is fair market value or defensible in a court of law. The wells location are….
