Old Division orders royalty payments never collected how do I get XTO & Exxon to help me

I’ve received one check from Exxon I inherited mineral rights after my mother passed. In an email to me from Exxon mobil they state I have another check coming from my mother’s portion but in lieu of division order.

My question is what can I do about division orders that have royalties paid from at the least 50 years ago that haven’t been collected . Division orders at Exxon has received and acknowledged my email from last year about my inquiry regarding this , with the response of we have forwarded your inquiry to the correct person and will be receiving a response. That was oct.2024, just this week is when I received the letter that I explained about it saying in lieu of division order?

Any information / help would be fantastic!

You do not have to sign a Division Order in OK in order to receive royalties. Instead, the operator does want a W-9 and proof of title such as a probate or trust document so they can trace the title and make sure the address is correct in order to pay you. (“in lieu of”) You do have to sign the DO in TX.

XTO is dealing with thousands of mineral owners and that takes a lot of time to trace title for each one. Use the magnifying glass at the upper right to search for “letter in lieu of division order” to get an example of a letter demanding to be paid. I send mine by certified mail so that I have proof of mailing and receipt.
