Original title to WV mineral rights

I received a lease contract from Antero. I have inherited a portion of the mineral rights for some property in Tyler County in West Virginia. Is there a way to find out the acreage of the initial deed?

Sassie2021,

Welcome to the Forum. The good news is that your name is in the Tyler County courthouse somewhere. If you are still living in the County the Courthouse is your first call. With the pandemic still raging most courthouses are still closed to the public so things are much more difficult, but the staffs of the records office in most counties, try to be as helpful as possible. If this is an old lease it is most likely not online, but try you computer first.

It’s important to know what you own, so if you can’t get to the courthouse you may have to hire a landman (male or female) in the area to get there for you when Covid-19 clears. Antero’s land department will have their answer, but don’t sign anything until you have your net acreage questions settled.

Welcome again and Happy Hunting!

Thank you. Hopefully we can get this figured out.

If your mineral rights are in West Virginia you might want to repost your question there. Looks like your first post was under the section for Tyler County, Texas

Thanks @Dusty1. We’ve fixed this.

Thank you for the heads up.
