How close may an oil company drill and produce oil from a horizontal well to another property not leased by that oil company without being legally required to compensate that property/minerals owner?
I am not a lawyer and one should contact if you have a problem. According to article of the Real Estate Center, Technical report 29, by Judon Fambrough, page 6, says " a verticle well must be 467 feet from lease line and 1,200 feet from anouther well on the same lease". " A horizontal well and its drainhole must continue to meet the same offset requirments". I think the oil company can get wavers on that rule from Railroad Commission.
thank you
