I received a call today from a pipeline company who is looking to switch their existing pipeline from an oil pipeline to a gas pipeline. We own the mineral rights but recently sold our surface rights. They will be paying so much per rod for this transition. My question is does a pipeline payment go to the mineral right owner or the surface owner? The land in question is in Converse County, Wyoming. Thanks for your help.
Traditionally payments go to the surface owner.
