Plugged or Injecting activity at Confidential Wells

Hi there! I’m trying to figure out what is going on with four Burlington Resources confidential wells in McKenzie County, ND: 38050 - “Renegade”, 38051 - “Chuckwagon”, 38052 - “Chuckwagon”, and 38053 - “Renegade”.

I’m asking since the North Dakota Industrial Commission reported these four wells in their daily report #19160, dated Dec 18, 2024 under the “Additional Information” section under the sub-heading “Confidential wells plugged or injecting.” Around Dec 18th each year is usually when I see the annual renewal of the permits, but this year instead of the regular renewal it shows they are “plugged or injecting.”

I’m thinking they would not be plugging these wells - since they have not been spud yet. Then again, by the same logic - how could they be injecting these wells if they have not been drilled yet?

We have other Chuckwagon and Renegade wells drilled nearby years ago, so have been waiting to see if / when Burlington will “fill in the rest of the map” with these wells like they have all around Watford City, but the “plugged or injecting” notification makes we wonder what Burlington is actually doing with the wells.

Anyone have any idea?

These are titled under “permit renewals” not the plugged category. They are all on confidential status and you won’t find out much, if anything for at least 6 months, possibly longer. If you go to the confidential well list, they are there, and way to right would be a Release Date, but that has not been entered, so they are not drilling yet, just renewed the permits…and once the well is spudded you MAY see a date for release of info on the Confidential Wells List for these.
