Hello,

I got notice of a royalty check which is different than I had expected. Is there some way to check North Dakota production on a particular well, especially a new one?

Have you checked the North Dakota Oil and Gas commission website?

If you list the well, some of us can get you the production.

Thanks. After I posted that, I realized that someone (most likely you) had posted the answer before (possibly a couple of years ago). I looked at the ND site, but found the oil production is still “confidential”. However, the gas production is there, which helps.

If the well is brand new, then your first check will be for several months and the largest one you will ever get. The rest of them will be for a single month at a time.
