New to mineral ownership in TX. I see on the Property Owner’s Notice of Protest a place to check if you are a Person Age 65 or Older. Is there some kind of property tax benefit for being over 65? If so, is the Protest form the one to use to notify the county?

The Protest Form is generic and sent to all property owners in the County. To my knowledge, the place to check if you are 65 or older is for folks owning residential property who get a freeze on their property taxes by various taxing entities in the County. Where I live, which is a rural area, I get a freeze on County and School taxes, but not on the EMS District that serves my area. If anyone reading this finds that I’m in error, please let us know.
